Looking back at my journey, I feel I’ve had the opportunity to work with almost every kind of home — Contemporary, Modern, Rustic, Classical and many fusions in between.

But I have never believed in forcing a particular style into a house.

For me, every space tells me what it needs. Sometimes it is the material, sometimes the proportion, sometimes a small detail — and most importantly, sometimes it is light.

I don’t know whether to call it experience or instinct. I simply consider it a God-given gift.

This residence is one of the best examples.

For a long time, I wanted to create a light-filled rustic villa. When Arun Sir mentioned that he liked a raw exposed ceiling and an open restroom concept, I started showing him small design elements one by one. Once he understood the vision, he simply said, “Okay, go ahead.”

From there, my biggest responsibility was to make every element work together.

The hero of this house is NATURAL LIGHT.

Raw concrete, warm wood, rustic textures, bold colours and open spaces can look beautiful — but only when the right light brings them together. So every opening, shadow, texture and material was carefully considered.

The final result may look simple, but this project demanded a lot of detailing. In this kind of architecture, even one small mistake can disturb the complete experience.

What made this project even more special was the couple themselves.

Dr. Rathika Ma’am takes decisions quickly — simple, clear and almost always perfect.

Arun Sir likes to understand, learn and analyse before making a decision. It may take a little more time, but once decided, the execution becomes excellent.

Two different approaches, yet together they create a wonderful balance — just like this house.

Arun Sir and Dr. Rathika Ma’am are genuinely intelligent, positive people and a wonderful couple with a beautiful family.

Talking with Arun Sir about his life experiences is something I personally enjoy. Once the conversation starts, you don’t even realise how quickly time passes. There is always something to learn from him.
